OMS Singapore Advances with New Additive Manufacturing Machines
In FY2023, OMS Singapore upgraded its capabilities by integrating five advanced 3D printers into the facility. These state-of-the-art machines, acquired through a partnership with Markforged,
allow us to print components made from plastic, fiber-reinforced plastic, and metal.
A team of 15 OMS personnel received comprehensive training from the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTECH) and Chemtron. With ongoing support from these partners, our team is now leveraging these machines to produce in-house consumables and fulfil Sales Order Projects, while also exploring opportunities to offer printing services to external clients.
Our collaboration with SIMTECH was further strengthened with a Memorandum of Understanding signed at the 12th Global Additive Manufacturing Summit 2023, witnessed by Mr. Alvin Tan, Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry. Additionally, a new project funded by NAMIC aims to develop a metallic Seat Seal for HPHT Gate Valves is set to take place in the 2nd half of 2024.
Reflecting on this progress, Mr. How Meng Hock stated, “By adopting Additive Manufacturing, we are taking an important step towards fostering sustainable practices in our organization.”
